Blog Advertising Advertising is an integral part of any business, but it is especially critical for a home based business. However, with the increase in the number of home based businesses, there is also an increase in competition for the prime advertising spots available on the web. One of the newest
advertising spaces on the web is advertising on blogs. Blogs (or web
logs) are similar to niche sites, however, blogs tend to be much
more personal. Blogs can be about a specific topic, or blogs can be
about whatever seems to cross the blog owner’s mind.
Niche blogs are blogs that focus on a narrow topic, such as moms from Ohio, moms of multiples, or political opinion blogs. Niche blogs are effective when you are looking for customers that are already interested in your particular product or service (such as advertising work at home opportunities on a work from home mom blog.) Having your target
market already narrowed down helps to make your advertising more
effective by, in effect, “pre-screening” the people who would view
your ad. General Blogs tend to have visitors who follow a particular person rather than a particular topic. Therefore, general blogs are great for reaching a larger and more diverse group of people. Advertising on a general
blog will allow you to see if you have potential customers in an
area that may be outside the group you have been targeting or a
group you may not have thought of before. Successful blogs tend to have very loyal followers, and often times blog owners will not only allow advertising, but may even be willing to write a product review (either free, or for a fee.) The great thing about the review is if
the blogger loves your product, their followers are much more likely
to act upon their recommendation than on other types of sites. Bloggers also
make use of writing articles and submitting their articles to
various article directories. Therefore, a simple product review
article on your product may find its way to many other sites as
well. Blogs are very popular and many more appear each day, so
keep looking for blogs that are similar to the one you like, and you
will likely find one more in tune with your advertising budget. So even if you find a blog that you like and you feel would be a great fit for your advertising needs, you need to be sure that the blog actually receives enough traffic for it to be worth your while and advertising dollars. |
